Lucy Has Selected a Winner... (not really, but she thinks so)

First and foremost I want to thank everyone that commented on Lucy's National Quilting Day blog. Lucy and I really enjoyed hearing about everyone's plans for the day on Saturday, or even Sunday! She especially loved hearing words like "adorable" "cute" and "wise". :-)  There were a lot of different ways that quilters celebrated National Quilting Day.  I spent the day in my sewing studio working on something that I can't show you yet... and of course, my assistant kept an eye on me.
Now for the giveaway!!  The magic number generator (although I let Lucy think she picked) chose lucky # 17 as the winner.  And that winner is Diane who blogs over at Butterfly Threads Quilting.  (Check out her blog - it's fabulous!!) Congratulations Diane!  I will send out your gift in the next day or so.  Now.. what has Diane won?
Lucy had some suggestions for a fabulous gift!  The first one was her little Fat Cat toy - which she insisted anyone would love!!
Afterall, she loved it and there was somewhat of a likeness...  I told her I thought that probably wouldn't be a good choice.
Her next suggestion was her favorite purple straw.  I told her while I am sure anyone would appreciate that wonderful color, she should probably hold onto that.
She also thought her crocheted fishy was a purrfect gift.

While I made some other selections for our winner, she insisted that if I couldn't include any of the prizes above, at least I could include some cute kitty fabric.  (Again... her choices with some kitties that look vaguely familiar) :-)
So Diane will be receiving a colorful handmade pin cushion, flower head pins, and two Lucy endorsed fat quarters (hopefully without cat hair!).  Thanks again to everyone who commented.  I loved hearing from all of you!!
Lucy was exhausted by the end of the day.. but wanted to thank eveyone too!!!

Happy Stitching,

Deb (and Lucy)

Happy National Quilting Day ... and a Giveaway!

Lucy would like to wish all of you a happy National Quilting Day!...  (she told me this over her usual bowl of kibble this morning)
She says she hopes you get to quilt to your heart's content today...
And that  your day is fruitful regardless of whether you spending it stitching...
Shopping at your favorite local quilt store...
Putting blocks together in the perfect order....
Or just hanging out in your sewing room....
So put on the tea kettle....
Gather together all your favorite quilting supplies
Relax with your favorite quilting project...
And QUILT!
Until you wilt!!

We hope you enjoy your day and the wonderful community of quilters!  Leave a comment telling Lucy how you plan on spending National Quilting Day and she promises to select a winner for a special prize...(she promises it will not be leftover kibble!)  A winner will be randomly selected and she will email the winner, so make sure you are not a no-reply blogger.  Winner will be announced next Wednesday.
Happy National Quilting Day!

Lucy.... (and Deb)!

National Quilting Day - Hooray!!!!

Happy National Quilting Day to all my fellow quilters!

Here in the US, it is National Quilting week.. with the third Saturday of the month designated as National Quilting Day.  Many quilt shops run sales, quilt museums have free admission or special exhibits, some Web sites offer free patterns, and quilters gather to work on projects and share the love of quilting.

This is where I plan to spend the better part of the day, if I can!
This is my sewing studio in the lower level of our house. Nice working space.
Most of my fabric is in plastic storage drawers or in a cabinet.  But my batiks are all on a shelf for inspiration.  Looks like they could use some straightening!
I try to keep project fabrics neatly in baskets... but sometimes it doesn't always work.
Here is the other side of the room.  The china cabinet against the wall was my late grandmother's, circa 1930's, and holds most of my embellishments and specialty thread.  The armchair was hers as well.
She made sure I took sewing lessons at the age of 9!
Thanks, Grandma!
I try to keep it neat.. but sometimes the project baskets and piles overtake the space.  I am sure you know how that is!  My husband and I bought that sideboard table for our first apartment.  There's the candy dish with chocolate in it for emergencies. (Yum!)

Whatever today brings you, I hope you get to do some stitching... and enjoy the day.  Seize the needle!

Happy Quilting!

Deb
