Liberated Log Cabin Update

I  have not been blogging much lately.. just way too busy at work.  Work just gets in the way of  quilting - way too much! LOL.  But I have made some progress on my Liberated Log Cabin quilt that I wanted to share!

So I started out by laying out the rows to get the best balance of color, pattern, etc. I was trying not to 'overthink' this... Lucy helped to distract me. :-)
She helped ALOT.....
We finally decided on a layout that she was happy with...
Here is the completed top on the guest room bed.  (note the little ears at the top of the bed.... that's Gracie!)  I have been trying to decide if I need to add a border.  Border? No Border? Border? YES!  I think I am going to add a scrappy border of some of the same fabrics in the top.
Gracie finally got bored with my decision process and just went back to sleep!

Now, wait until you see what I did with all those scraps I trimmed off those blocks.....

Next time!

Happy Stitching,

Deb

  1. Colorful liberated log cabin. I usually like a border, but this quilt may not need one. It appears large enough for bed and Gracie likes it. I do like the thought of a scrappy binding.

    1. Yes, the quilt is very busy. It just looks a little unfinished... oh who knows! I'll change my mind 10 more times! LOL. I think I am going with a gray and pink polka dot binding. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. What a fun colorful quilt. And each block is placed in EXACTLY the right place. My cat Jimmy used to burrow under quilt blocks so I'm glad you have an expert helping you too.

  3. I've yet to meet a cat that doesn't love to quilt. They also have great taste, which is proven by their interest in your liberated log cabin. It's wonderful, whimsical and beautiful.

  5. How beautiful! I look forward to seeing what you come up with for the border. And I'm glad I'm not the only one with a "helpful" cat.

  7. Ha, ha, ha! Oh, that cat! Well, I am glad she got tired so we could get a good look at that gorgeous quilt top. And her ears... What a character! Can't wait to see your scrappy border.
