A Busy Week!

It was a busy weekend and week!  We went to Connecticut for a party at my brother's to celebrate Sean & Katie's wedding.  They loved the table runner I made and I think I made a good guess in making it in black and white!  Sean's great-aunt made this beautiful wedding cake with fresh flowers.

The long trip to Connecticut and back gave me plenty of time to stitch more baskets.  I got six more baskets done to add to the pile.  They are so much fun to make!

Also this week we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversay!  John sent me these beautiful flowers.  See the sprigs of pearls? - very nice touch for a 30th wedding anniversary.

Sunny Quiet Morning

A beautiful day here... bright and sunny, but I hear the cicadas singing already so I think it will be another warm day with high humidity.  That is the weather pattern we have been in - with afternoon showers.  The garden could use the water!

I am working on finishing a long table runner I have made for my nephew Sean and his new wife, Katie.  They were married in January in Washington, DC and we are having a wedding celebration for them this weekend at my brother's house in Connecticut.  Of course I am always finishing at the last minute.  I was able to finish the machine quilting on Saturday and got the binding sewn down. Now I just have to add a label!

More baskets!  The baskets I have made since the last post!
I also have been working on one of the inner borders of a four block applique quilt.  This block is from the Blackbird Designs book "Country Inn".  I have been trying to decide what kind of border to use..  first I tried half-square triangles, then a piping, then prairie points...  I think I like the checkerboard best.  What do you think?

Of course there is always a kitty around to help with the process.

Warm & Sunny in New Jersey

Warm day here in northwestern New Jersey - but still happy to be home with the doors and windows open.. until it gets too hot.  Enjoying the colors of the season - pinks, purples and green is my favorite combination... as you can see from the flower pots on my deck..
and in the colors of this little art quilt I made awhile ago.  Notice the netting along the cut-out area toward the top of the piece.  Great technique!

I am currently obsessed with these little basket blocks.  From the book When the Cold Wind Blows (where they are done in orange and black for Halloween).  I love these little gems.. I have to make 291... let's see how long I can stick with it!

On my design wall... and various places around the house!

I think I need to go do some basket stitching...

Happy Quilting!
