A Year in Quilts

On the last day of 2012 I woke up thinking about all the end-of-the-year 'lists' that the media promotes during these last few days of the year.  And I started to think that instead of the 'year in pictures' or the 'year's top stories' etc.  I thought about my past year in quilts.

I hope you enjoy seeing some of the quilts I made in 2012.  It is a nice to see all the stitches that took me through the year.  Happy New Year!
Winter Cottage from the book Tis the Season. It's great at night on the couch.

This one is unamed but is from Blackbird Designs.  Perfect for curling up with a book.  As you can see I am reading a biography on Katherine Hepburn.
...And of course all those baskets... the stack is growing, now almost 100 and counting...

I also have been making these really fun batik fish pillows!  They are addictive!
Here is a piece that almost made it to finished in 2012.. well, there is always next year.
And yet another one on the list for 2012...  Finishing is so overated!
I also was able to complete 3 of the 9 blocks I will make from the Sweet Sixteen quilt

This looks like me..busy stitching in the snow. : - )

Happy Quilting!

Where Has the Time Gone? Can it Really Almost be Christmas?!

I'm sorry for my lack of presence on this site. I wish I had a great excuse. I really meant to post right after our trip in October....but the time just flew by!  Now it's almost Christmas... how did that happen?  So, what have I been up to??  Too much to talk about ... our trip to the Panama Canal, Hurricane Sandy, elections, and now those sweet, innocent children in Newtown, CT.  It is hard to grasp everything that has happened in such a short amount of time.
Here is an interesting piece I got in Panama.  They are called molas.  Made by women in the region.  All done with the tiniest applique blanket stitches.
This is an example of the beautiful ox carts made in Sarchi, Costa Rica.  All painted by hand - incredible.  Would make a great quilt!

Here is another smaller mola I made into a small wallhanging adding batiks.

Of course there have been some handmade Christmas presents for some special quilt friends... .shhhhhhh.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Happy stitching in 2013!
